(listen with the player above or subscribe & review at iTunes or Stitcher),

I talk with painter and abstract artist Angelo Mesisco.  We hear about his life growing up in the Bronx and learn how we can come to know ourselves and our world through art.  We discuss the positive effects interacting with abstract art can have on us, and talk about the benefits of meditation and living in the present moment. Angelo on Exhibit

I encourage you to see Angelo’s paintings in person, as the web does not do them justice, but if you can’t, here is his website www.angelomesiscopaintings.com   Angelo and Chris   We also talk about growing up in times of inequality, treating others as we would treat ourselves, and the gift of enjoying your work. You will also hear about the MoMA, Pablo Picasso, and Jackson Pollock: Museum of Modern Art MoMA

Guernica, by Pablo Picasso. The painting that changed Angelo’s life.
Jackson Pollock, Convergence, 1952

I found Angelo’s view of meditation to be very interesting.  He doesn’t see meditation as saving the world,  but as a tool which people may or may not use properly.  He recommends headspace.com as a great place for guided meditations.
