Living the Yoga Life

27 Robert Sherman – The Teacher’s Teacher of Functional…

Known as a teacher’s teacher with an incredibly deep understanding of the human body, Robert Sherman rose from the early aerobics and fitness movement

to become a developer of instructor programs for everyone from Reebok to Beach Body (of P90X fame).

Robert’s programs are all based on the foundational idea that what you do with your body in life should inform how you train you body on a regular basis.  He is constantly refining his teaching, always exploring the “why” of movements in order to better inform everyone from his private clients, to his group students, to the next generation of teachers that he reaches through his instructor programs.

We explore a wide range of topics from his early days in the aerobics movement, to mediation, to the common biases of yoga teachers, to his incredibly deep understanding of the human body and much more!

Enjoy!

026 Christina Washington – A Beginner’s Perspective on the…

026 Christina Washington (1)

Christina Washington found yoga as a means of coping with major challenges in her life.

A newer student to yoga and meditation, Christina was reluctant to come on the podcast, feeling that she would have little to contribute.  However, we are all making a journey along a similar path, and those who are newer to the journey have valuable contributions that are particularly relatable to beginning students.

I was so happy to Christina on Practically Conscious, as her story provided tons of valuable insights into the benefits of these practices for all of us.  My wife Darina participated in the conversation to make things even better.  This was one of my favorite interviews of all time!

Enjoy!

Living the Yoga Life

025 Daniel Stewart – Exploring the Sacred – Psychotherapy,…

025 Daniel Stewart

Beloved LA yoga instructor Daniel Stewart is a multi-faceted teacher

and student, constantly exploring life and playing with whatever it sends his way.  Initially a successful music video film maker and producer, Daniel gradually shifted his focus to studying yoga and psychotherapy and also re-kindling his early love of music by integrating Kirtan into his practice.

Daniel began his teaching career by powerfully helping students at an eating disorder center, and his yoga and psychotherapy career expanded from there.  He currently maintains a private practice as a therapist, teaches yoga at his studio Rising Lotus, leads retreats, conducts teacher trainings, teaches yoga philosophy, is contemplating a documentary about his father’s contributions to Jungian psychotherapy, and much more!

Daniel has had a fascinating life and is always looking for ways to pass along what he has learned to the rest of us.  We were super fortunate to have him on Practically Conscious and we can all learn from him.

Enjoy!
